Costs Are Estimates, Not Guarantees
Every charging cost on kWhPrice is a calculated estimate, not a quote or a guarantee. We model a full charge as roughly 80% of a vehicle's usable battery capacity multiplied by a published per-kWh rate. Real-world cost depends on your state of charge when you plug in, charging taper at high states of charge, battery preconditioning, ambient temperature, idle and session fees, taxes, and time-of-use pricing — none of which a single per-kWh figure can fully capture. Always confirm the live price in the network's own app before you charge.
Data Sources and Their Limits
Our figures are compiled from published charging-network rate cards, U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) residential electricity averages, EPA fueleconomy.gov efficiency ratings, and manufacturer battery specifications. We review this data quarterly, but networks change pricing frequently and often vary rates by location, by time of day, and by membership tier. State electricity averages smooth over large differences between utilities, rate plans, and individual households. As a result, the number you see here can differ — sometimes significantly — from what you actually pay.
